Plum season is coming. It is customary at NONA to prepare plum syrup and serve it during workshops.
We have been in charge of dyeing original brooms (Nakatsu brooms) by Cotogoto in Koenji for some time, and we have been in contact with them for some time. This time, I was invited to a seasonal event , and I will be participating in a sashiko workshop in Koenji! !
Sashiko is an easy way to do sashiko at home during the rainy season.
A very cute sashiko coaster has been created using bleached and thread dyed with plum. The content is fun even for beginners, so please come and have a look.

[NONA's sashiko workshop held]
I want to enjoy a life with plums in addition to preserved foods.
Therefore, we will be holding a sashiko workshop using plum-dyed fabric with the cooperation of Atelier NONA, which has a plant-dyed workshop in Nishi-Ogikubo, Tokyo.
``Ume dyeing'' is dyeing with the juice of plum bark and roots.
Using a dyeing technique that has been practiced in Kaga since the Muromachi period, it is dyed a gentle pink with a hint of red.
The branches and leaves used for plum dyeing are provided by ICHI-ZEN, a plum farmer who produces processed products such as pickled plums that are free of pesticides and chemical fertilizers.
The plum-dyed cloth is made into a coaster size,
We will do sashiko using NONA thread.
Choose your favorite color from a variety of plant-dyed threads,
The basic sashiko stitch is embroidered to resemble the rain falling in the sky during the rainy season, which is a seasonal pattern. Draw a small window on the coaster and stab it in.
Not only the finish of plum dyeing is different one by one,
There is no doubt that you will grow attached to the coaster that took a long time to complete.
Even if you can't finish it within the allotted time, we will teach you how to stitch it, so you can continue at home. You can also purchase kits and threads on your way home.
