Japanese madder grows nativelly in Japan. NONA luckily got fresh Japanese madder roots from  'Manyo farm' in Gunma as if we could celabrate our 2nd anniversary together with NONA's symbolic plant, madders.

Compared to Indian madders, Japanese madder roots are delicate and thin. 

It is very hard to get strong colours at once. So only way to do to dye strong red is to repeate dyeing again and again.

It is a time consuming job to use Japanese madders but I am totally in love that work!! after I see the result of the colors, which are created by Japanese madders.

Japanese madder roots, which we got this year 2023 is 1st year roots.

It is said that it has yellower colour than 2 or 3 years-old one. But I found it is breath-takingly beautiful.
